Several musicians in The University of Tennessee’s band, “The Pride of the Southland” did not approve of President-elect Donald Trump. The band has marched in 12 of the last 13 inauguration parades. They did not participate in President Obama’s second inauguration because Obama decided not to have a big celebration. Thousands of people signed a petition to prevent the band from playing in Trump’s ceremony. The petition was not successful; however, as the band played anyway.
President Trump has angered millions with his actions, causing people to not approve of him as the leader of our country. Trump has disturbed many people with his actions, which is one of the things that make people see him as an unfit to be president.
“The Pride of the Southland” band is one of the best in the country, as demonstrated by consistently participating in the famous inauguration parade. The first of the 13-year streak was the inauguration of Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. They will play University of Tennessee’s classic songs like “Rocky Top”, “Fight Vols Fight” and “Down the Field.”
These ceremonies only come every four years. It will have many important people in attendance, including, of course, President Trump and Vice President Pence. Most of America will be watching our new president take office. Tennessee’s band will play despite protest by many and viewers will get to see the talented group play.
